Simply said…

The fabric district in Los Angeles rocks. I just picked up around 100 yards of cottons, wools, and lace for under $70. All in all, it was a VERY successful trip.

Now I will be able to make my all grey Norman tunic, pants, and cowl for the Estrella War resurrection of the 3 Drunken Celts, as well as complete some more Border Reiver soft kit pieces like slops and a circle coat.

Now if I could just get off my duff and finish the padding and strapping of my new helmet, as well as completing the rest of my armour kit, I will be all set for next February’s war…. Here’s to hoping I can do it all in time!

  1. Gonna make a pretty dress for the big Ball, huh?

  2. Nope, not this time around. Pants and a Jacket are on the slate for the cloth I got yesterday. Although, I guess the tunic will indeed be long enough to consider a dress of sorts, so you may be right after all!

  3. Wow! That sounds like you got some great deals. Can I be nosy and ask what kind of deals you got on wool? I can easily spend $70 on wool for one dress!

  4. Not nosey at all…

I got approximately 6-8 yards of wool for a tunic and pants for about $50. That was the most expensive part of the haul. You’d have to ask Raz about the particular shop we went to for wools and silks, but it is indeed the cheapest place up there for those fabrics. The rest of the cottons I got for less than 75 cents per yard at one of our other favourite holes in the wall where they know Raz well enough to show him exactly where all the natural fabrics are hiding the second we walk in the door 🙂
