My dentist’s assistants are a bunch of fucking hacks.

Last night I noticed my temporary crown coming loose. So, like a good little patient, I called in to have it re-cemented. They made room for me first thing this morning and had me in the chair with 5 minutes of arriving at the office. That’s when it all went wrong.

First, they said they had to make a new temp crown because the one I had wasn’t going to hold. So they go searching for the original impression, but can’t find it. Fine. I ask why they can’t simply re-cement it and get me on my way, and they feed me a line about the crown that I only barely understood to be: it won’t stay. Fine.

So they proceed to begin taking another impression to make a new temp crown. The assistant puts my old crown back and follows it with the impression goo. When she removes it after it has “set”, the assistant asks me where my crown is. I look at her with indignation and say, “well it must be stuck in the impression”. She says it isn’t and asks me if I swallowed it. Okay, I can understand that, even if it was a bit accusatory in tone. I look at her and indicate that no, I didn’t swallow it, and that if I had she would have known by the fact that I would have been on the floor choking with goo dripping from my mouth. She looks around a bit more and proceeds to ask me 10 more times if I swallowed it, going as far as checking in my mouth another 4 times between her and another assistant to see if it was there.

This is about the time I became a bit more belligerent and indignant. I was incensed that they would continue to accuse me of swallowing my own crown, and subsequently be stupid enough to not realize it or lie about it. Asshats, the lot of them.

Now I am just PISSED. I wasted a good 2 and a half hours on their mistake and have a new half-assed temp crown that seems to have a bit of a sharp edge on the inside. Luckily I get my permanent crown on June 7th. That will be the last time I go back to this dentist. Which is a shame because I like the dentist, but her assistants have a piss-poor bedside manner and are quite a bit more rough with their work.

Meme : By Request of  friarpuck

1. Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Around 200 I think… if simple math is to be believed.

2. The last film I bought:
”Sideways”- I love the flick, but still think it was highly over rated and undeserving of all the oscar hype. Name drops a bit too much at the beginning, but really finds its own story about halfway through.

3. The last film I watched:
”Kingdom of Heaven”. Typically I’d be all over this genre of film, but for some reason the story line and acting just failed to capture my attention… luckily number 4 here will let me talk about films I DO like. 🙂

4. Five (or so) films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me, and why:

Dead Poet’s Society – Because it is full of angst and English. It, much like myself, revels in its own ability to reference great writers. This film single handedly caused me to become an English major with a creative writing emphasis in Poetry.

House of 1000 Corpses – Fun horror flick that references all horror flicks that came before it. Tons of wanton violence and swearing. This has everything a good horror flick needs. Great soundtrack, and simply just FUN.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead – Another film that revels in its own intelligence. Answers the time honoured questions of “what ever does happen to secondary characters in Shakespeare’s plays?”. One of the best and smartest films ever made.

Peter Gabriel’s Secret World Live Tour – The best concert DVD ever made. Second only to Peter’s own “Growing Up Live” dvd. Not only is the music fantastic, but the production quality is second to none. This concert, when it was on VHS, got me through my college years.

SLC Punk–  One of the best “scene” films ever done about the punk generation. Fabulous soundtrack. Every time I watch it, I want to break out my spiked leathers and create total havoc. I love films like this that remind me about the “FEEL” of the scene, not just the music and look.

5. Finally, tag five people to do this meme:
Nope. But if you feel like stealing this and doing it yourself, go right ahead; I AM interested to see other’s choices. Especially siobhan_genie‘s and llmarycatll if she ever deigns to logon again….
